WordPress Maintenance

WordPress maintenance done by senior developers.

Monthly WordPress maintenance for businesses that take their site seriously. Core, plugin, theme, and dependency updates handled on a tested cadence. Security through our deep Kinsta partnership. Off-site AWS backups. Real developers on the phone when you need them.

What our WordPress maintenance covers.

Real WordPress maintenance is more than clicking “update all” once a month. Every update gets a staging test, every form gets a delivery check, and every plugin gets evaluated against the others before it ships to production.

WordPress core updates

WordPress core releases get tested in a staging environment before production. PHP version compatibility checked first, rollback path always in place.

Plugin updates

Every plugin update gets a compatibility check against your other plugins, your theme, and your custom code. We never bulk-click "update all" in production. WordPress plugin maintenance is where most "the site went white" incidents happen, and our staged process keeps that from being your problem.

Theme updates and customizations

Theme updates respected against any child-theme customizations you have. We do not overwrite your custom work and we do not let you fall behind on security patches at the same time.

Security patches and malware scanning

Continuous malware scanning, security patches applied on the advisory schedule (not the next maintenance cycle), firewall management, and brute-force protection. Most WordPress sites get breached through a known-vulnerable plugin; we stop that at the patch level.

Contact form testing

Every form on your site gets tested every cycle. "WordPress contact form not working" is the most common silent failure on WP sites; we make sure your forms keep delivering email, integrating with your CRM, and capturing leads.

Broken link scans and database optimization

Broken internal and external links scanned and reported in the portal. Database cleanup, transient cleanup, and revision pruning where appropriate to keep the site fast.

Why senior developers matter for WordPress maintenance.

Most WordPress maintenance companies run on a help-desk model staffed by people whose job is to close tickets. That works fine for “update WordPress core” but falls apart the moment something is non-trivial, a plugin conflict, a custom theme that needs to be carried through an update, a headless setup that needs more than the default WP toolchain, or a contact form integration that broke for a reason that requires actual debugging.

Our WordPress maintenance is run by senior developers, not help-desk staff. That means when a plugin update creates a conflict we did not predict, the person who catches it can also fix the underlying issue, not just hold the update. When your contact form breaks, the person on the call can read your custom theme, find the conflict, and ship the fix in the same conversation.

Same applies to dependency updates on custom or headless WordPress setups. If your site is more than a plain WP install with a few plugins, the maintenance work requires real engineering judgment. That is what we do.

Our WordPress + Kinsta partnership.

For WordPress hosting, our default recommendation is Kinsta and we have a deep partnership with them. Kinsta handles hosting-level security, managed updates of PHP and database infrastructure, automated daily backups (which we pair with off-site AWS backups for redundancy), and CDN at the platform level. That combination is hard to beat for most WordPress sites.

Where Kinsta is the platform layer, our WordPress maintenance is the application layer on top: plugins, themes, custom code, forms, integrations, security hardening, and the monthly review meeting. The two layers fit together cleanly and the result is the most reliable WordPress hosting and maintenance combination we have found in fifteen years of doing this work.

If you are not on Kinsta and your current hosting is fine, we leave it alone. If it is a problem, we say so and we run the migration.

FAQ

WordPress maintenance questions, answered.

How often should WordPress be updated?

Core WordPress updates and security patches should be applied as soon as they are tested in staging, usually within a few days of release. Plugin and theme updates run on a tested monthly cadence on most plans, with emergency patches applied immediately when a security advisory is published. Putting WordPress updates off for months is how most small business sites get breached.

How much does monthly WordPress maintenance cost?

Our monthly WordPress maintenance starts at $850/month on the Starter plan, which includes the full maintenance baseline (core updates, plugin updates, theme updates, security, backups, monitoring) plus three hours of edits and a monthly meeting. Most WordPress clients are on Growth ($1,950/month) which adds more hours and proactive recommendations. See plans for the full breakdown.

What if a plugin update breaks my site?

Every plugin update gets tested on a staging environment first. If something breaks in staging, we either fix the conflict before pushing to production or hold the update back until the plugin maintainer fixes the underlying issue. In the rare case a production push breaks something we did not catch, the rollback path is in place and we can revert within minutes.

Why is my WordPress contact form not working?

The most common causes for WordPress contact form not working: SMTP misconfigured, your hosting provider blocking wp_mail, a security or anti-spam plugin interfering, the receiving inbox sending mail to spam, or a recent plugin update breaking the form integration. We diagnose contact form failures as part of routine WordPress maintenance and monitor them so you find out immediately when they break.

Can you help with WordPress hosting too?

Yes. We have a deep partnership with Kinsta for managed WordPress hosting and we recommend Kinsta for most clients where it fits the use case. We also work with WP Engine, AWS, Liquid Web, and DigitalOcean. If your current host is fine, we leave it alone. If your hosting is part of the problem, we say so and we run the migration.

Do you only work in WordPress?

No. WordPress is the most common CMS we maintain, but we also support Drupal, Joomla, HubSpot, ExpressionEngine, Concrete, headless setups, and custom systems. Our CMS updates service covers all of them on the same staged process.

What is the difference between WordPress maintenance and WordPress support?

WordPress maintenance is the scheduled technical work: core, plugin, theme, and dependency updates, security patches, backups, monitoring. Professional WordPress support is the broader engagement: maintenance plus help with things that come up between updates (broken contact forms, slow pages, custom theme changes, plugin troubleshooting, content edits). Our plans bundle both, plus a monthly meeting and a portal you can see into.

Can you help with WordPress if I just need one-off WordPress support, not a monthly plan?

Yes. We can take a one-off WordPress support engagement to fix a specific problem and bill it hourly. Most clients move to a monthly WordPress maintenance plan after the first fix because retainer pricing covers the same WordPress support plus all the maintenance, security, and monitoring. But you are never required to.
